Dr. Edith W. Anderson
Edith Walthour Anderson is a native of Allenhurst, Georgia. The daughter of the late Willie C. Walthour and Louise Pray Walthour, she is the mother of three children (Toni, Carnell Jr., and April), and the Memaw of five.
She is the Pastor of the Mary Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Gardi, Georgia, and a member of Good Shepherd Missionary Baptist Church in Allenhurst.
A 1970 graduate of Liberty County High School, she holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Resources Administration from St. Leo University. She also has a Masters degree and Doctorate degree in Christian Education/Counseling from Trinity Temple College of Religion in Hinesville, Georgia.
In 2003, she retired from the Civilian Personnel Advisory Center, Fort Stewart, Georgia, as a Human Resources Advisor. Currently, she is an instructor at Trinity Temple College of Religion, School of Revelation Bible College, and the Sunday School Publishing Board of the National Baptist Convention, USA (Division of Christian Education Accreditation and Credentials). She also serves as the Dean of the Tattnall Missionary Baptist Association and is a former volunteer chaplain with Liberty Regional Medical Center.
She is the Program Chairperson for the Liberty County Emancipation Proclamation Committee and is on the Scholarship Committee. Additionally, she is a member of the Hinesville Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority where she serves as Co-chair of the Social Action Committee and a member of the Publicity Committee. She is a member and historian of Trinity Temple College of Religion Alumni Association and is the treasurer and a member of the Wayne County Ministers’ Coalition.
Pastor Anderson is the author of three books (Prayer Devotional and Journal - Let IT Go and Dare to Soar,Lack of Knowledge, and Dare to Soar) and is also a ghostwriter/collaborator. She also serves as a guest Correspondent with the Liberty County Coastal Courier and has a bi-weekly radio broadcast, Let’s Talk.
A well sought after speaker, Pastor Anderson conducts numerous conferences, retreats, seminars, and workshops. Her favorite Scripture is: “This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24). A woman of prayer, she has a Wednesday midnight telephone prayer group.
